John Becker gave an educational segment on color for printing, calibrating your monitor, definitions of RGB and CMYB (red/green/blue, and cyan/magenta/yellow/black). He explained why when we print, our colors are usually less vivid than what is on our monitors, and how to correct some of that. He also told us about 2 upcoming events outside the club that are available to us. One is the “Foot in the Door” This is through the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. It is held once every 10 years. Anyone has an opportunity to exhibit at the Institute, one piece. Also, there will be a Downtown Red Wing photography competition . Grand prize will be $500 plus a print portfolio. These will be on exhibit in various locations throughout Red Wing. Interested persons will be submitting a body of work consisting of 12 to 15 photos with a statement explaining the objective of the photos. These should be of the downtown area! More details will be coming. The competition will span a period of 6 months.
The meeting was adjourned and interested members headed up to tour the new studio. Submitted: Kathy Anderson Recording Secretary |
