The Red Wing Photography Club met for their July meeting on the 19th.  A special meeting location this month was at Sargent's Nursery where a very short business meeting was held prior to a fun photo shoot on the grounds.  Two guests were present.  President Kathy Anderson opened the meeting with a welcome and huge "thank you" to Sargent's for hosting us.  Sargent's provided discount coupons to all members present.  A special "thank you" to Mary Ouret who was wise and brought mosquito repelent and shared! A quick update on the upcoming picnic was given by Tilton Davis.  The picnic will be held in lieu of our regular August meeting, and will be the day before our regular meeting on Sunday August 15th at Colvil Park, 4:00 PM in the screened in pavillion.  Members are asked to bring a dish to pass.  Burgers, dogs, drinks will be provided by the club.  Mary Ouret is working on a fun photo scavenger hunt.  There will be a few short 10 minute mini clinics on various aspects of photography.  There will also be fun stuff for the kids!

Kathy brought to light a new blog created by the Camera Council.  It will "provide news and noteworthy information that may be of interest to our club members.  Any member of an affiliated camera club can post notice of events, awards, exhibitions, photo shoots, meetings, images or other news of general interest to all camera club members."  Submit items for publication to: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Members were reminded of the upcoming float in the River City Days parade.  Bodies are needed to man the float.  We are looking for about 20 people.  Half with point and shoot cameras, half with SLR cameras.

The members were then turned loose to shoot whatever they desired in, outside, around Sargent's Nursery gardens, showroom, greenhouses, their private garden, whatever we wished.  Photos will be posted in a special gallery on the website.  Jeff Marcus, Kathy Anderson, Jim Martin and Mary Ouret acted as mentors for members needing assistance with camera settings, etc.
